This Pontoon card game developed by NetEnt is part of their professional series of high-quality table games. NetEnt have created these almost realistic versions of the classic casino games to provide the best possible casino experience for players, and they do not disappoint.
Theoretical Return to Player (RTP) of this version of Pontoon online is 99.59%.
NetEnt’s Pontoon Pro is played with 6 decks of cards and is laid out on a lush green table which mirrors that of a land-based casino. Classy, sleek and fuss-free, this table has a professional look to it, and sets the tone for the game as a whole. The visuals and design of this table are so crisp, and with a wooden touch to finish it off perfectly, it looks great.
Set Your Stake
In this standard version of Pontoon Pro, the bet values range from £1 up to a maximum of £40 per hand.
You will see the selection of chips at the bottom right-hand side of your game. There are chips at values of £1, £5 and £10.
To place your bet, click on the chip value you want to stake, and click in the box. Click multiple times to double or treble up on chips, and you can use a variety of chips with each bet.
You can bet a different amount on multiple hands if you wish. The maximum number of hands you can play is three, but you can stick to just one hand if you prefer.
If you decide to alter your bet, you can click on the chip with an ‘X’ in, and this will remove the bet so you can start afresh
Once you have placed your bets, hit the ‘deal’ button then wait and see what hands you are dealt with.
Aim of the Game
If you are familiar with Blackjack, similar rules apply for the Pontoon card game. Pontoon Pro is the British version of Blackjack.
As a result, the aim of Pontoon Pro is to get to 21.
Numbered cards from 2-10 can be taken at face value for their worth.
Picture cards, from Jack to King, are all worth 10.
The Ace is worth either 1 or 11 and can be interchangeable depending on the hand dealt.
Pontoon Pro Hands
Instead of ‘Blackjack’, a 21 made up of a 10 and an Ace constitutes a Pontoon. This is paid out at 2:1.
A hand of five cards which total 21 or less is known as ‘Charlie’. This five-card trick is also paid out at 2:1.
A total of 21 using 3 or 4 cards will beat everything except Pontoon and Charlie.
All wins of 21 using 3 or 4 cards, as well as any other hand which beats the dealer, is paid out at 1:1.
If the value of your hand exceeds 21, you will go bust.
Up to a hand value of 16, the dealer must draw another card.
When the dealer gets a 17 where the Ace can only stand as a 1, he can take no extra cards. If, however, the hand allows the Ace to represent 1 or 11, another card must be dealt, unless, of course, it is a Pontoon.
If you are dealt two cards identical in value, you will have the option to split it into two separate hands. A split will double your bet, as you are then essentially playing two hands.
You can then play the hands as usual, and if you are then dealt a card which creates another double, you may be able to split this one, too.
With a hand of four cards or less, if you are confident you will win with an additional card, you have the option to double.
This doubles your bet and allows you to be dealt just one more card, after which you must stick.
If your confidence pays off and you win with that extra card, your payout will be bigger, because you doubled up.
If you’re an admirer of the classic table games, then Pontoon Pro is a great one to try. The different variations of limits mean that there is a version of the game for all kinds of players.
For those familiar with Blackjack, Pontoon Pro should be easy to get to grips with. Even if you’re new to it all, just keep the number 21 in your mind, and you should start to understand it quickly.
Players new to the Pontoon card game may wish to play without the additional bets such as the split and double until they are comfortable with how it all works.
This version of Pontoon online is a classy affair and has the real casino table feel to it; another great release from NetEnt.
