Demolition Squad is a cartoon slot, developed by NetEnt. It has 5 reels and 40 paylines, with bets starting from 40p a spin. Set amongst scaffolding, the reels are fast-paced, and some lucky landings could trigger up to three bonus features, including Free Spins, Wilds and Demolition Wilds. Read on to find out more.
Taking inspiration from Japanese-style art, the anime style cartoons in the Demolition Squad slot each have their own roles in this demolition mission. Join the crew and see if you can construct some wins in this game. This is no ordinary mission, there are robots and all-sorts to help you along the way.
Join the Squad
To gain your place in this mission, all you’ve got to do is place a bet and have a spin. All of the 40 paylines are fixed and will be in play with every spin you take.
You can choose how much you want to play against each of the bet lines using the coin value and the bet level.
The coin value can vary between 1p and 50p per payline, meaning between 40p and £20 a spin. You can set this in accordance with how much you want to stake.
If you want to add an extra dimension to the bet, you can increase the bet level. It is automatically set to 1, but it can be increased in increments up to 10.
The bet level will be multiplied by the coin bet to create your total bet, so make sure you’re happy with the total bet before you start. This is displayed beneath the green spin button.
Once you’re cool with the stake, you can then hit the shiny green button.
Demolish those Reels
Each of the characters in the Demolition Squad slot has a different role and a different value, too. Land three or more of the same symbols on a payline to win.
The big robot which looks like it’s got one big red eye is the most valuable, perhaps due to its strength in comparison to the rest of the gang. Landing the maximum of 5 robots on a payline could pay out a whopping 4000 times your coin bet.
A dude in a hi-vis jacket with a cigar hanging out his mouth may not pass a health and safety check in real life, but here he’s worth up to 2000 times your coin bet.
There’s a fella with a big grin and a drill in his hand on a green background. Land the maximum of five of him on a payline and you could be looking at a payout of 1000 times your bet.
The woman in pink can award you up to 800 times your coin bet for landing five-of-a-kind.
We then have the two guys in blue, one light, one dark. In light blue, the one with some kind of torch can pay out up to 600 times your coin bet. The guy in the dark blue has a mohawk and an axe – don’t mess with him, but you could get up to 400 times your bet for landing five of him on a payline.
As is standard in most slots, the lower-value symbols are the card values, from Ace to 10. Each has a different value, with maximum payouts ranging between 60 and 150 depending on the symbols you land.
Scrapyard Specials
You have three different bonus features just waiting to be triggered in the Demolition Squad slot. Let’s take a look.
Free Spins
You will spot some yellow triangular warning signs among the reels. These are the Scatters. Land three of them in one spin to trigger the free spins.
One of the characters will then swing in on a wrecking ball and transport you to the free spins round.
The number of free spins you will be awarded depends on how many Scatters you land in the triggering spin:
- Three Scatters = 10 free spins
- Four Scatters = 20 free spins
- Five Scatters = 30 free spins
Any wins you land throughout these spins are multiplied by three.
If you are lucky enough to land an additional three Scatters in a free spin, you could re-trigger more spins!
Wild
The Wild symbol has yellow and black stripes and the top and bottom, and you’ll not miss it, because it’s also got WILD written on it. This precious symbol can substitute for any of the standard symbols in play, helping you to build up some winning paylines.
Wilds can land on reels 2, 3, and 4 only.
Demolition Wild
This is a very special feature which could really help your game if the reels work in your favour.
On reels 2 and 4, you have the possibility of landing the Demolition Wild.
If they appear, they will turn the symbol between them Wild too, meaning you will have three Wilds on the middle reels. This can open up lots of opportunities to create some winning paylines, especially with 40 in play!
Again, these Wilds can substitute for any of the standard symbols.
Gameplay
While this isn’t the most glamorous of NetEnt productions, it is definitely one of a kind. The theme, the characters, the big old wrecking ball, and of course, the Demolition Wild feature. In fact, this feature could be the single stand-out element of this game which gives it an edge over similar games.
The average Return to Player (RTP) value of the Demolition Squad slot is 97.1%. It has a medium variance, meaning that you may not win on every spin, but when you do, they should be decent.
All in all, it’s a quirky themed slot which has embellished the classic features, creating a good game for those who aren’t too fussed about endless bonus features.
